Currently I am attending the University of Washington and am planning on majoring in Environmental Studies. Having always been the obsessive recycler and composter, I have realized that my true passion lies in the challenges the environment presents us today. In fact, my family calls me "Miss Urusai" for my constant reminders to recycle and compost. With my abilities to speak some Japanese and Chinese, I hope one day to represent the U.S. in some form, working with Japan, and many other countries to help resolve and improve conditions worldwide.
I am honored to run for the Greater Seattle Japanese Queen Committee Scholarship Program because I have seen how organizations such as Nikkei Concerns and the Nisei Veterans Committee have contributed to the betterment of our elderly families and have contributed greatly to the Japanese Community. I feel it is crucial for my generation to carry on their legacies. This opportunity would be a wonderful way for me to start giving back and to make a difference. |
