Participant applications for the 2011-2012 program year must be postmarked by Tuesday, November 30, 2010.

Royal Court Qualifications   back to top

The Greater Seattle Japanese Community and Cherry Blossom Festival Queen of 2011-2012 must be between the ages of 18-24; must not have reached her 24th birthday by May 24, 2011 and can be no younger than 18 years of age on July 31, 2011.

* Must not be, nor ever been married or plan to be married during her reign.
* Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
* Must live in the greater Seattle area.  Family must also reside in the    
  greater Seattle area.
* Must not have, nor plan to have children during her reign.
* Must have Permanent Residence status defined as living in Washington State
  for twelve consecutive months prior to application due date.
* Must be of one-quarter Japanese ancestry.  Exceptions may be made on a    
 case-by-case basis decided on by the Board.

Royal Court Duties   back to top

Throughout the year of reign for the Royal Court, duties include, but are not limited to:

* Attendance at various community events, such as fundraisers, festivals, and
  banquets.
* Volunteer monthly at Keiro Nursing Home and Nikkei Manor Assisted Living
  Facility.
* Fundraise for royal court trips to Honolulu and San Francisco.
* Coordinate and supervise the following year's contestants.
